For over two decades, NABI has proudly stood as the largest and most prestigious all-Native American basketball tournament in North America, serving high school-aged youth. Since our founding in 2003, we’ve garnered the support of major organizations such as the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, many tribes, and corporations across the United States.
Each year, over 2,400 athletes compete in the Native American Basketball Invitational, donning NABI Nation uniforms and playing 480+ games over just a few days. Reaching the Semifinals and Championship games means stepping onto a professional basketball court, complete with all the bells and whistles, in front of cheering fans, with the event live-streamed to thousands across Indian Country. Victorious teams earn the coveted NABI Championship trophy and custom Championship rings, and proudly bring it home to their communities.
NABI is much more than basketball.
NABI believes that basketball is the perfect tool to unite Indigenous youth all over the world, encouraging them to grow in the sport while using their talents to pursue higher education and become tomorrow’s leaders. Throughout our week-long event, student-athletes engage in educational opportunities, including the NABI College & Career Fair and NABI Educational Youth Summit, and even have the opportunity to receive scholarships through the NABI College Scholarship Fund.
We take great pride in our mission coming full circle, with NABI alumni returning to inspire the next generation. Some NABI alumni have gone on to play college basketball, join the WNBA, or pursue careers in law, medicine, community service, and sports marketing. Through the game of “rezball”, NABI continues to shape the future of Indigenous youth, empowering them to chase their dreams on and off the court. As we look to the future, we remain committed to providing opportunities for our student-athletes to grow, succeed, and become leaders in their communities and beyond. Together, we are not just building champions in sports but in life.
